If I were asked to recall the three greatest lectures I had ever experienced in our academic studies, straining to search my memory, I could only remember two lectures, in which I was able concentrate throughout the entire speech without the absence of mind (perceived as an accomplishment). In addition to that, they were both found on the internet. I have to say that isn't really good when I have sat through almost everyday of my life for the past 11 years in school.

FROM CHOICE TO CHALLENGE
It’s one thing to say what you want and it’s quite another to determine what to change, the reason why you want to make the change and how you’ll overcome obstacles.

A performance is determined not only by ability but most importantly by motivation. By realizing this concept of motivation, it allows you to see how much influence you have on the outcome by the decisions and actions you choose take to accomplish.
Who said you have to be the best in everything you do? Not being athletic enough or smart enough or attractive enough or talented enough; does NOT mean you can't play a sport or be the top in exams or be able to create beautiful art or sing and dance all you want! If you believe that you can't do because you aren't good enough, well then you’re holding yourself back.
Before anything, grit and commitment are the two virtues you will need to do anything in a world like this. Both are absolutely necessary for you to actually make a decision to commit to and follow through, you will most likely not further progress.
One of the ways for me to motivate myself to work hard is that I don't like to think about it as hard work. I think about it as a part of molding my self into who I want to be. I just think about how good it must feel to be that, or how proud I might be to have done that. Make hard look easy. I like that challenge. I like to be the kind of person who is capable of that.
