What are the essentials of the Vampire story? Apply this to a literary work you have read or viewed.

- The destruction of the female (youth, energy, virtue) ; and the continuing life force of the older male.
"But you don't need fangs and a cape to be a vampire." (19)
These essential vampire story characteristics reminds of The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold. In this book, a young, virginal, innocent, sweet girl is lured into a field. In the field there is a cool cave-like structure that had been built by a neighbour, someone she knows. He is an ugly man, ugly. Ugly history, ugly, corrupted, murderer, rapist, necrophiliac, just a gross guy overall. This ugly man rapes the young girl and chops her up into pieces. This strips away her youth, energy, virtue, and life. And.. unsurprisingly, she wasn’t the first, nor the last. Throughout the novel, the girl tells her story from heaven. The novel shows how the world must go on anyways, and the continuance of the life of the old male. He was almost caught and executed for justice but never did get caught, for he is a coward and runs away all the time. This story portrays the exact qualities of a vampire story. Too bad the old guy wasn’t attractive, or sexy, or anything like that. Usually the vampires are portrayed as sex objects but thank god this one didn’t.
